Written Medicine’s software and terminology service makes medication information accessible for patients with language and communication barriers. At the point of prescribing, dispensing and discharge, healthcare professionals can print instructions, warnings and other bespoke information in bilingual and accessible formats, which include 15 languages, simplified English and pictograms.
Language barriers is a contributing factor in non-adherence, poorer experience and reduced patient safety. NHS England’s Core20PLUS5 national agenda of reducing health inequalities recognises language barriers and seeks to make care as personalised as possible, when being delivered to people with limited English literacy, regardless of they are first or second language English speakers.
